I enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work. However, the Yankees are done this year. I do not see them making the playoffs. Recently, you wrote a post about the number of strikeouts the Yankees batters racked up in August. Unfortunately, this trend has not changed in September. I think it is time for a new batting coach because it is the only explanation for the continued poor hitting performances. Even Jeter, a guy who normally works the count and gets on base, has been striking out a lot this year. If you re-watch his 9th inning AB you will notice that Soriano never threw Jeter a strike and yet struck him out on 4 pitches. It is this type of impatience which has caused Jeter's average to dip into the .260 range. I won't even comment about Austin Kerns who I have yet to see do anything but strike out since becoming a Yankee. (oh that's right he singled last night and got thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Bum!) Unless the Yankees lower there awful strikeout rate soon, I do not see them finishing ahead of either the Rays or the Red Sox.

I have to admit, this video gave me a little chuckle. I dont care who was faking the HBP - there's enough faking all throughout pro sports (some of which you mention in your post) - if you get away with it? Awesome! If not - then you look like a jackass, but it's worth the shot. Jeter has ALWAYS been known as the one guy who'd do anything to get on base and definitely anything for the W -- why is this any different? I think people are taking it to extremes - especially considering that the Rays won it anyway.
