It took 8,020 games, but the New York Mets can finally celebrate the first no-hitter in franchise history. Thanks to Johan Santana‘s 134-pitch domination of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Mets are no longer the butt of one baseball’s most often told jokes. The new punchline is the San Diego Padres, who now stand alone as the only team to never no hit the opposition (they can thank Denny Doyle for that). Listed below in chronological order are the most recent no hitters for each franchise along with the number of times they have been involved in hitless games as either the victor or the vanquished.
