I’ll never forget being the bleachers when Don Mattingly went deep in game 2 of the 1995 ALDS. It was as if the Stadium had all this pent up energy from so many years of not making the playoffs, so when Mattingly homered, the place exploded. Everyone just threw whatever was in their hands up in the air, and no one cared. That moment was even greater than when Leyritz finally won the game with the walkoff homerun in extra innings.
The most priceless Yankee moment that I witnessed was seeing Derek Jeter receive his ring for his 3000 hit record! The roar of the crowd was deafening; the excitement of his many fans exhilarating! It was a once in a lifetime moment for my husband and I!

It was 1976. The final game of the ALCS against KC. The Yanks hadn’t been to the World Series in WAY too long, since 1964. The game was tied going into the bottom of the 9th. Mark Littell pitching for KC. I was sitting in the right field bleachers. On the first pitch, Chris Chambliss hit a long drive that looked like it might come right at me. The ball knuckled toward me. I, along with EVERYone in the Stadium, stood up. It landed around 10 feet to the left of me. GAME OVER! The Yankees go to the World Series!! WOW!!!
Although we live in Ohio, my daughter loves the Yankees, so I took her to NYC for her 15th birthday and we were at the stadium on the day–even at the moment–she turned 15. It would have been cool anyway, because the Yankees beat the Blue Jays, her birthday was on the scoreboard, and it was our first trip to the stadium, but we were lucky enough to have an ambassador sitting by us. This man had lived in NYC most of his life but now lived in Baltimore, and once each season he met up with his brother at a game, and we were lucky enough to be sitting next to him. He was a hilarious, knowledgeable, and loud fan, and he really liked Nick Swisher, so every few minutes while the Yankees were on defense, he’d stand up and say, “WE LOVE YOU, NICKYYYYYYY!” and Nick would tip his cap to the fans, and we’d all go wild. The experience culminated with him leading the entire section in singing happy birthday to my daughter, creating a birthday neither she or I will ever forget. :-)))
